2013/14 Irish Barista Competition – Judging Workshop

Hi Everyone,

I hope that you are all well! The 2013/14 Irish Barista Competition is around the corner, the Competitionseason has started again. We just finalised details of this year’s judging workshop and would like to invite you once again to attend.

Firstly, a massive Thank You for your dedication and your expertise for last year’s judging at the IBC.  Our aim is to further raise judging standards again this year. The course will follow a similar structure to last year- both theory and practical- but we would like to focus even more on the sensory understanding and on scoring techniques.

We certainly believe that if we continue focusing more on this modules will improve and benefit judging standards and palates.

The details for the judging course are as follows: The workshop will be held at Marco Beverage Systems Ltd. ( 74, Heather Road, Sandyford Industrial Estate,Dublin18) on the 31st of October 2013 (Thursday).

This workshop will be free of charge for all SCAE members. A small fee of € 50 will be applicable tonon-SCAE members to assist in covering costs.

All judges for this year’s IBC must again attend and successfully pass this workshop in order to be considered for judging at this year’s Irish Barista Championship.

Spaces for this workshop are limited, so please could you come back to me by the 20th of October if you wish to participate.

The 2013/14 IBC Semi-Finals will be on the 9/10th of November 2013 in Java Republic Roastery and the Finals will be held in CityWest on the 11th of February 2014.  If you would like to attend the judging workshop we also would hope that you would all be available for our competitions.

For those of you who are unavailable to judge, but would still like to be involved, we are looking for volunteers to help with the running of the 2013/14 IBC.

I will confirm further details for the workshop day closer to the date!

We really do hope thatyou can all make it!

Thank you all!

Kind Regards,

Anita
